We leave the Tromsø region in Brensholmen with the ferry to Botnhamn region Senja.
Planning to board the ferry at 12 o’clock changes quickly when we arrive at the ferry, there are about 30 vehicles waiting.
And knowing that only 20 vehicles can go on a ferry, the bill is quickly made. That will be a boat later, next boat is at 5 pm. Fantastic, we are parked well and patiently await the next boat.
There is a bit of socialization and we meet Greg and Melanie, couple from the USA who have been traveling with the Motorcycle for 9 years.
Beautiful couple with whom we chat the entire crossing.
And then everyone goes their way after a hug and a firm handshake. Their website is www.2wandrrs.com.
That night we sleep near Husøy, where a walk is planned for the following day. As foreseen, a walk is made in the morning with a beautiful view of the Øyfjord, once back down from the walk and after a well-deserved shower we continue and end in Mefjordvaer where we see the Dutch from the Sommaroy bridge again. We stay here for a day to take a walk. What we do the next day immediately, beautiful walk through a valley consisting of small and large mountain lakes. Blissful,
we begin to understand and appreciate the travel pace. That last one mainly applies to me “Jan”. A few days we drive 10 to 15 km and so we end up in Skaland, here at the harbor we stand in a simply quiet place, after solid doubt from Mrs. des mobil homes we are going on a mountain hike. The summit of Husfjellet is 635 meters, we are at sea level. That will be a tough climb, but it doesn’t matter. After 2 hours of continuous climbing, we reach the summit and are treated to a magnificent view of the Teinfjords and the Nordfjords on the other side. FANTASTIC, tough but more than worth this climb. Now even down in a careful way, because it has just started raining when we were at the top. The next day we just stand there, enjoying the peace and meanwhile even spot a bird, because we are right next to a nest of a pair of razorbills coming at intervals with a fish for their young offspring. Beautiful right? The next day we travel further to Gryllefjord, where we arrive in the afternoon at 3 pm when the ferry is filled. But this one is also full, so waiting 4 hours for the next one. 19: 08hr Bakkie is loaded in the ferry towards Andenes on the Vesteralen, on to the next exploration.
